Djurgarden vs Chelsea preview, safest prediction, lineups 01/05/25

Deafening noise will rock the 3Arena when Djurgarden vs Chelsea go head-to-head in the first leg of their UEFA Europa Conference League semi-final on Thursday night, 01 May 2025 at 20:00 BST.

Djurgarden vs Chelsea preview

The hosts overcame Rapid Wien with a second leg 4-1 victory after extra-time and winning 4-2 on aggregate, having trailed 1-0 from the first encounter in Stockholm.

The Swedish outfit have not reached the semifinals of any European competition before, making this feat a historic moment for Jani Honkavaara and his charges, who will now have their eyes fully set for a place in the finals.

Similarly, Chelsea put up a commanding 3-0 win in Poland against Legia before succumbing 2-1 at the Stamford Bridge. Still, the Blues advanced to this stage with a 4-2 aggregate win.

Enzo Maresca’s side will become just the first club in history to win the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Europa League, and the UEFA Europa Conference League if they’re able to reach the finals and take home the title.

Djurgarden vs Chelsea safest prediction

  • Chelsea to score first
  • Less than two goals at half time
  • Both teams to score – Yes
  • Chelsea to win

Reasons for tips

Chelsea have been the best team in this competition this season without doubts, winning all but one of the 10 matches played so far. Interestingly, the London side have netted the first goal in all of the previous five away matches they’ve played (three in the league phase, two in the knockouts). We expect them to continue the trend here.

While we fancy both teams to score in this skirmish, as Chelsea have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last couple of games, we see a cagey first half at the 3Arena between them with less than two goals scored before the break.

Lastly, Chelsea have won 9/10 matches played in this competition this season, winning every single game on the road and completely putting their opponents to the sword. With superior firepower and personnel at the disposal of the Blues, we don’t think Djurgarden, who’ve already lost twice at home in the current knockout phase, can deny Maresca’s side a victory on Thursday.
